Shaun Hird / General Manager / Mansfield / North East

Shaun Hird - General Manager

What does your role involve?
The main focus of my role is to make sure that the experience that our members & non-members have while in the club is to the highest level. This is done by regular meetings with my team and of course goal setting to achieve our monthly personal and business targets.

What do you love about what you do?
I love working in our industry, where else can you meet people from all different walks of life, help them achieve their goals, have a laugh while doing so and also get paid while doing it!!!!!

What’s the most challenging thing about your work?
Its hard to say whats the worse thing as everyday comes with a different challenge and I love to be challenged, which sometimes can mean that its all hands on deck and I can be at the club over and above a normal working week.

What do you do outside of work?
Spending quality time with my girlfriend is the thing I love most to do, we are blessed to have very close families around us so there is always something happening. Travel is a big favorite thing to do also as the world is getting smaller and I want to see as much of it as possible. I am a self confessed gadget geek so anything techy is always on my wish list!!!

What has been the highlight of your time at Fitness First?
Well this is my 3rd time with Fitness First so its hard to pick just 1 highlight. I guess from starting with the company as a motivator back when I was 18 years old to now being a GM shows that I really have had a journey of discovery and I have been lucky enough to meet some great people along that journey both members and staff. From been put through a 6am Boot Camp at Momentum to passing my Future Leaders Program and becoming a General Manager…to be continued…

What’s your advice for someone considering a career in the fitness industry?
Above of you have to love whatever you do, so if helping people achieve their goals, having fun and meeting lots of different people is whats gets you out of bed in a morning then what you waiting for in the words of Nike “just do it”
