Shape Up
Operation shape up is a global initiative aimed at putting the fitness back into fitness first. This program provides every team member with the perfect opportunity to reconnect with our amazing life changing product – exercise! If you’re already actively engaged in a health and fitness program then challenge yourself to score maximum operation shape up points. If you’re finding your way back into working out again after a lengthy lay off then let operation shape up kick start your return to form.

Birthday
All employees, regardless of service, are entitled to the day of their birthday off.

Childcare Vouchers
This benefit is for parents or those employees with parental responsibility for children up to 15 years old (16 if the child is disabled). Employees can choose to buy childcare vouchers through a salary sacrifice scheme and therefore save tax and national insurance contributions on the vouchers. To be eligible to take part in this scheme you must be earning at least minimum wage after the monthly childcare payments are made.
Cycle to work
We currently run a cycle to work scheme. Savings are made through a salary sacrifice arrangement whereby you reduce your salary but are provided with a bike of the same value in exchange. Payments for the bike are taken out of your gross salary rather than your net salary therefore saving the amount you would pay on tax and national insurance.

Flexible Working
To assist parents with their external commitments, Fitness First adopts a flexible working approach where possible. Qualifying employees have a statutory right to request flexible working patterns but this should not be considered the right work part time.

Holidays
Employees with up to one year’s full service are entitled to a minimum of 29 days holiday per annum (including Bank and Public Holidays). An additional day is added to the entitlement after each full calendar year worked, up to a maximum of 38 days. Part time employees have this entitlement calculated on a pro rata basis.
Support Centre, Divisional and some Club employees are entitled to 21 days holiday plus Bank and Public Holiday. This is due to the fact that the Support Centre and some clubs are closed on Bank and Public Holidays. Part time employees have this entitlement calculated on a pro rata basis.

Long Service Awards
Fitness First rewards employees who have been employed for five and ten year’s service with the presentation of leisure vouchers from ‘Experience More’ for you to spend as you please. Experiences include indoor sky diving, make-overs, rally driving and cookery courses!
Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving is a very simple and tax free way to support a charity that is important to you by donating an amount each month from your pay. Payroll Giving allows you to give straight from your pay before tax is deducted. This means that if you pledge to give £5 a month it will actually cost you £4 on basic tax rate. Simply complete the form on the intranet and send to Payroll at the Support Centre.

Pensions
Fitness First has nominated Standard Life as our Stakeholder Pension provider.
Staff at the level of General Manager or above with 1 year’s service and Club Staff with 5 year’s service are entitled to receive a matching contribution of up to a maximum of 5% of your basic salary.
As an additional benefit, those employees in the pension scheme who also receive a company pension contribution are entitled to the Death in Service Insurance Scheme of three times their salary.
